I really love babies. I love their little noises, their soft skin, their tiny fingers, their sweet smell (well, most of the time anyway). I also love being able to sit and play with a newborn for a few hours knowing that I don’t have to worry about feeding them, changing them or waking up all night with them. Ohhhhhh, I love my job

Well, today was my first session of 2010 so reality has kicked in that my holiday vacation is truly over. The good part is, I’m ready to get back into the swing of things and today’s maternity shoot was an awesome way to do it! This beautiful preggo is a fellow photographer and that always makes shooting fun as she completely understands my burning desire to try out new things.
You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. With the holidays fast approaching I am scurrying to get orders out the door. I appreciate everyone’s patience and hope to have all orders completed in the next two weeks. Baby boy “J” had the cutest little birthmark on his shoulder in the shape of a heart. Mom said that God had stamped him. Awwww!
This is my all time favorite newborn sibling pose. How sweet is this?!?
They say that newborn smiles are caused by gas. I say it isn’t so! This little guy was having a good dream, I could tell 
But alas, the dreams were short lived and my smiley newborn was not so smiley. I think he was mad that we were trying so hard to get him to sleep when clearly he wanted to be awake. We just weren’t getting the hint! When we finally figured it out, he was content. Awake, but content.

I couldn’t wait to meet my client’s new baby girl. She was absolutely precious as I knew she would be. She was so good and made my job super easy this morning!
Sadly, I don’t have a lot of family in the area so I don’t get to photograph them often so I was absolutely delighted when my cousin announced they were expecting baby #2 and wanted me to do their maternity photos! They made the 2 hour trip in for the session and I’m so glad they did. It was a great time and it was nice catching up and getting to spend some time with their little boy. Unfortunately, it took them twice as long to get home due to traffic problems so hopefully they’ll determine it was worth it when they see their gallery LOL! Regardless, I’m very excited for my cousin and his family and I can’t wait to meet baby Alex!
Today starts my run on newborns. I haven’t had an itty bitty baby for awhile but I have several coming up. Yay! I love the challenge of a brand new baby. Sometimes they’re super sleepy and other times they’re wide awake. This little lad fought sleep almost the entire time. He’d dose off for a few minutes but it would never last. So, don’t let the first few images fool you. The last image is what he was like most of the time but he was still cute as a button awake or asleep. Check out that hair, too!
I had the pleasure of photographing big sister too. She was adorable and was totally into my sheepskin rug and my sock monkey. She wasn’t very happy when we put her baby brother on that sheepskin. It was her’s lol!
Well, this session had a rather odd start as my brand new clients got to see a different side of me that included pink cow print pajamas LOL! My worst fear was realized this morning as I fouled up my schedule and my clients showed up at my door several hours earlier than I was expecting. Totally my fault! Oh well, they were super good sports about it all and were incredibly understanding. Thank goodness for great clients!!!
This family was not only understanding, they were adorable. Mom-to-be was gorgeous and the camera LOVED her! I cannot wait to see the addition to this family. He or she is bound to be beautiful with genes like these
To make up for my blunder (and because I just couldn’t pick favorites ha ha!), this will be a large share.
